What can you do to save a teenager’s life?

Please read this post if you have a teenager at home or if you care for someone who is a teen or will be a teen sometime soon.

I want to share with you something very meaningful and important today.

What can you do to save a teenager’s life?

Sometimes it only takes a word, a hug, a ” I see you ” to do so…Trust me…someone once save me when I was 16 just by sitting with me a talking…it took one conversation to change my life completely around.

20 teenagers commit suicide each day in the United States…80% of them are boys between 10 and 19 years of age…more than 600,000 teens attempt suicide every year in America.
Teenager’s feelings are real…I know as a parent or a teacher you might get frustrated with their up and downs, their misbehaving and negative attitudes and you might feel like they are in control of your life and you have lost complete control of theirs…
I want you to stop…breathe…and ask yourself what YOU can do differently…and understand that when your teen is screaming, crying, angry, violent, quiet, or lonely,  they might be burning inside, feeling so lost and so broken that they don’t believe there any hope of that brighter future we so often talk to them about.
Please…take a moment and try to see behind their actions…see their souls…their hearts…their minds.
Your children are their own beings and have their own challenges…Life sometimes is very hard for them, same as us…
Listen…just listen to what they are truly saying.

I have worked with many depressed children and many more teenagers who were in the verge of killing themselves…this isn’t okay…this shouldn’t be happening…Wake up…Please…as adults wake up and reach out…there is always hope-

Now I want to share this poem that one of my beautiful patient named Esty wrote. Esty is only 13 years old. Read this poem and understand the dimensions of teenager’s emotions and feelings…see their beauty thru this poem.

Much love as always…and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help a teen. If you have any questions on how you can help or would like me to see your teen.

Xoxo Gaby

             Feeling in Extremes

I don’t know what living a balanced life feels like

When I am sad I don’t cry… I pour

When I am happy I don’t laugh… I beam

When I am angry I don’t yell… I burn

The good thing about feeling in extremes is when I love I give them wings

But perhaps that isn’t such a good thing…

Because they always tend to leave

and you should see me when my heart is broken

Because I don’t grieve

I shatter…
